- Description: Plan Mother’s Day by destination, working backward from a realistic delivery cutoff. US Mother’s Day is May 9, 2027; verify other markets separately.

Build a Mother's Day campaign around the recipient's market and the last order you can realistically deliver on time. There is no single international Mother's Day date. For the United States, Hallmark confirms Sunday, May 9, 2027\. Verify every other destination separately before scheduling messages.

## The benchmark

One campaign sent to the entire database can arrive after the occasion in another market. Hallmark’s English account notes that Mother’s Day dates vary around the world. Start from the recipient’s destination and confirm its local date instead of using the brand’s home calendar for everyone.

Use a market worksheet before producing creative:

| Field | What to confirm |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Gift occasion | Actual locally observed date and regional variations |
| Recipient destination | Country/region receiving the parcel, not simply site language |
| Carrier service | Service-level promise and excluded days |
| Preparation | Real picking, packing, personalization and gift-wrap time |
| Cutoff | Order date and time, time zone and service conditions |
| Campaign sequence | Launch, useful reminders and post-cutoff alternative |

For the US 2027 example, the confirmed holiday is May 9\. Exact shipping cutoffs are still an operational estimate until the relevant carriers and fulfillment team confirm them. Do not reuse another market’s estimated cutoff or infer a UK or Canadian date from the US calendar.

The source reports Mother's Day appearing in at least six brands' plans across fashion, jewelry, watches, fragrance and toys, usually as one line without a cutoff or content plan. That is the planning gap to fix, regardless of country.

## The rule

Work backward from the last deliverable day before the occasion:

`last order time = confirmed final delivery opportunity − realistic preparation time − transit time − contingency`

Use business-day calendars and the chosen service, not simple subtraction of calendar days. Local public holidays, weekend deliveries, cross-border customs and personalized products can change the answer. The [Christmas cutoff method](https://conversion.club/playbook/what-christmas-order-deadline-should-you-display/) applies to other gift occasions.

Lead with the gift offer rather than an automatic discount: useful selection, packaging, message, direct-to-recipient delivery and arrival confidence. A leather-goods brand in the source planned full-price gift ideas immediately after an archive sale. That was a roadmap decision, not a measured conversion result.

If discounting, check earlier offers under the destination's rules. EU prior-price requirements can matter for EU-facing promotions, while other markets need their own assessment. See [reference-price guidance](https://conversion.club/playbook/what-does-the-law-say-about-strikethrough-prices/).

## The steps

1. Confirm the holiday by recipient market and calculate the cutoff by service. Label every provisional date as provisional. Display the same cutoff and conditions on product pages, cart and confirmation messages.
2. Remove previous campaign banners, tags and collections. The source's audit found 60 fashion products still carrying a French Days tag weeks later. The transferable task is a clean handoff between events, not participation in that particular event.
3. Build a gift guide by budget or recipient preference. Confirm stock, [gift packs or thresholds](https://conversion.club/playbook/gift-sample-or-tiers-what-should-you-offer-to-fill-the-cart/) and links from navigation and the home page. Start assortment preparation several weeks before launch, allowing production time.
4. Test gift wrap, printed messages and direct-to-recipient delivery with real orders. A homewares business in the source planned these options for Mother's Day, Father's Day and Christmas; they should be tested features rather than assumptions in the copy.
5. Segment the sequence by destination. Last-order shipping country is a useful starting signal, but allow for a gift going elsewhere and customers whose circumstances have changed. Draft an introductory message, a useful mid-campaign reminder and a final eligible-delivery notice. Stagger countries by their own occasion and cutoff.
6. After physical-delivery cutoff, promote a digital gift card only if it is genuinely supported and reliably deliverable. State any activation or fraud-review delays rather than promising instant arrival by default. Record the outcome in the [operating journal](https://conversion.club/playbook/how-do-i-keep-track-of-what-moved-my-numbers/) for next year.

## The pitfall

Launching during the holiday week leaves little room for thoughtful shoppers or fulfillment problems. A Thursday order arriving the following Tuesday may meet the normal shipping service while missing the gift occasion. Copy must distinguish “dispatched by” from “delivered by.”

A country-wide send based on the brand's home calendar can be even later for another destination. Keep the market date, cutoff, creative and suppression of expired delivery claims together in the campaign plan. A precise date is useful only when its evidence and operating assumptions remain visible.

## What to tell your team

> “US Mother's Day is May 9, 2027\. We will confirm delivery services, then set our order cutoff using real preparation and transit time plus a buffer. We will launch a full-price gift guide several weeks earlier and give every other destination its own schedule.”
